Cuteness

I just received some fun little pick-me-ups in the mail.  These goodies hail from ms. elinor, lowercase e.  I love this little figurine.  She's only about two inches tall.  She'll be making herself at home on Charlotte's bookshelf (which used to be a china hutch -- I'll have to post about that one too).

Elinor, well mom :), also sent some funky fabric bits, horsey buttons and an antique mother/daughter postcard.  Random and perfect.  We have a lot in common in our taste for miscellany.  And, mom's now selling my fabric on her website.  So, here's a link for that. 

It's our babysitting night tonight.  We have a co-op set-up with three of our friends where each couple takes a turn watching all of the kids on Friday nights.  In other words, we each have reliable date-night babysitting for three weeks, followed by one very hectic fourth Friday filled with all the goings-on of eleven little kids.  So worth it. Highly recommended.  Of course, it was on a date night that Charlotte broke her teeth at our friends' home.  So, if you set up one of these babysitting circles with your friends, make sure all couples agree to some sort of basic structure -- like two adults present or rooms with bunkbeds get locked, etc.  It can get pretty crazy. 

We usually take the kids to the park for a couple of hours and get them all tuckered out and then set them up with pillows, blankets and popcorn in our loft and project a fun movie onto the wall.  Sometimes we'll slip in a craft activity or cookie decorating.  I think we made New Years hats once.  Anyhow, that's my night.  It's actually kind of fun.

Such cute mail goodies and wow aren't you a brave one taking on 11 kids. Does sound like a great idea though for date nights and the movie projected on the wall must be a great hit. Hope it goes well. :)

All the little things she packaged for you were perfect little things that though small are big to receive :) I love the idea of having 3 nights a month for dates..and the 4th..we'll like you said so worth it! :) Enjoy.

I just read about you Toothless Rose! Barely 2...oh how hard. My little one is just over 2...weird not to say 27 months, but we are passed that. Anyway, we had the pleasure of her breaking her femur back in Oct. She wore a spika cast for 3 weeks (yep only 3!) and I think it was much harder on me than her! I am sure your little one has recovered quite nicely by now-It is amaizing how the littlest ones recover!
I love your date night idea- only problem is we have no friends with kids...geez we are the only married ones too!

Hi Heather!
I found your blog last week after searching for a headband pattern for my daughter. Finally today I could get the pattern to load up...last week it said the website could not be found. I just printed it off and I am not great at sewing but the pattern details are all mushed together and I can't read the instructions! Help! My little girl has been wanting me to make her headbands but they do not stay in her thick hair and seeing yours gave me promise that this would work. Could you email me the pattern? The pdf scrambled the instructions to the point that I can't tell what is what.

LOVE the idea of the babysitting coop - we did one too but we would just take turns going to the other person's house and babysitting there while they went out - they way you do itmean you have other adults to go out with! We will have to give it a try...have a great night!
