Re-FRESH-ed

Enough
about TV and movies, right? Can anyone tell I've had buttoned lips
(for forever it seems)? At last, here's something I can show, my new
Freshcut logo.
And you'll notice, there's the official HB logo up there too. That was a long time in the works. Or I should say that I was effectively putting off that task for a long time. Defining yourself in type is surprisingly tricky.
Are you an all-caps kind of girl or scrolly & silly? Modern? Vintage? Modern & vintage? Romantic? Floofy? Straight-forward? And when you've answered these sorts of questions, then you have to figure out how to translate that personality into type.
Kinda fun too. Fun enough to do again.
So, what's the new Freshcut logo for? Hmmm. Well, that I'm hoping to announce next week.

You are such a tease!

Love the new look!

It looks beautiful-very Heather. I know what you mean about that type thing. I spend as much time on logos as I do on flowers. Can't wait to see how everything turns out!

So great!!!!! It is hard to put yourself into type but I you did a wonderful job.
Can't wait for the big announcement. It does seem like you been button lipped for awhile ;)

What a tease. I love the logo. My husband is an artist with graphic design background so I have learned a small amount about all those choices. I think you did a lovely job.

ouch, those buttoned lips are painful, that's for sure. (is that why your photo is cropped in your header? haha)
I just hope those trash ties will be ready for some holiday hairdos around here...
nice logo, btw, I like.

Great job on your personal logo. It totally reminds me of you. Fun and spunky but also organized...and beautiful.

very boootiful.......can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve!

I spend everyday trying to do exactly that for people I've never met. It gets tough sometimes, and I'm an objective 3rd party. Doing it for yourself is never an easy task. Looks nice though, from what I've read from you, I think it captures you nicely.

next week?? that's too long to wait! Tell us, tell us!
Posted by: Jennalou | November 15, 2007 at 03:12 PM
Heather, I think the new logo is very you. Feminine, fun, but a little sassy, too -- with a dash of retro glam. And you know you are a big tease. Not fair! LOL!
Posted by: Mary | November 15, 2007 at 03:46 PM
lovely. I can't wait until next week's announcement.

Posted by: Bianca | November 15, 2007 at 04:28 PM
Pretty and fresh. I like that it is both artistic and legible.

I love logos and LOVE, love, love yours. So very clean, fresh, pretty and elegant. You took a few simple, elegant and fresh ingredients and created a gourmet meal. You nailed it!
Posted by: happy zombie | November 15, 2007 at 05:02 PM
aaahhhhh the SUSPENSE!!! I, at the same time, love and hate the way you do this to us. BAA HA HA.
I love it, it looks spectacular, I couldn't imagine it looking any other way ;)

Your new logo is absolutely gorgeous! Definitely "fresh" and so pretty. Really looking forward to next week's announcement. You're doing very well keeping it to yourself - I'm hopeless when it comes to exciting news - I just have to share it! :)
Posted by: Anita | November 15, 2007 at 05:38 PM
You are a good secret keeper. The logo is really nice, the fonts are pretty did you design each letter yourself? It looks very custom, maybe for patterns???? : )
Posted by: Kim | November 15, 2007 at 06:10 PM
Yah, that was one of my big hang-ups. I didn't want to use an existing font. That baby was all hand-drawn.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone and your loud boos over the suspense :) I promise to tell each secret as soon as I'm allowed to.

It's beautiful, not too frilly. :o)
I thought it looked like an original font too. Good job!

Heather!
I know, I know! It is challenging to create a logo that really captures all that I want to get across! I try not to get too freaked about it, but it is a lot to think about. Especially when building a brand, one needs to really take care with it- you don't want to go changing it too much once it's known and recognized- tossing away all that hard earned recognition! But, you know, as a creative girl, I will always grow and change and experiment... It's all in progress all the time!
You did a beautiful job, no surprise there.

It looks great. Congrats on finding just the right tone to represent your fabulous fabric.
Posted by: Lisa | November 15, 2007 at 07:41 PM
Love both of the logos. Makes me want to create my own.
Posted by: Moanna | November 15, 2007 at 08:44 PM
So the font on Freshcut and the flower remind me of one of images used by one my favorite stamper companies, Papertrey Ink. www.papertreyink.com One or more of the sets has that awesome font, and one or more of the sets uses a similar flower. I just know you wanted to know that. Anyway, cute logo! Oh, to have a logo for your very own self!! That's rad!
Posted by: Cara | November 15, 2007 at 09:37 PM
Ooooh -- LOVE the new logo. Dare we hope the announcement is about a new set of fabrics? Or, coordinate items to go with the current line?
Posted by: Angela | November 15, 2007 at 09:50 PM
Cara, thanks for the tip, but I can't imagine it's very similar at all, as I hand-illustrated the "Freshcut" with no reference material on hand - just made it up. And the flower's straight from one of my fabric designs.
Very curious though. Do you have a url where I can see what you're referring to specifically?
Thanks!

Love it, Heather...its so---YOU! Perfect.

Heather, Love your logo - cool fonts! That "trademark" registering does take forever. I, myself, am still waiting for approval on my trademark. I want to use my own name to distinguish my creations from the infamous "Vera Bradley." I carry VB Home furnishings in my shop "The Blue Egg". I also have a little studio set-up to create my own pretty things. BU-U-U-U-T, my trademark is held up - I'm being opposed by "The Burton Corporation," maker of the well-known snowboards and gear. I guess they figure they have some stiff competition with me in my little 10'x10' back room studio making pillows. Anyway, your tm is beautiful and whimsical. Love it!!

Great work Heather. I am in the process of working on that kind of "who am I" logo...and it is a lot of work! I really LOVE the colors, and think it says exactly what you do: vintage but modern...fun but sweet..perfect!

Love it Heather! Beautiful!

What a dichotomy - SO unbelievably original and yet it makes me feel all nostalgic... how on earth do you do that? Its very sneaky. =) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some patterns...
