Extra, Extra

Last shot of the day and it was remarkable we got anything as it was pretty dark by that time.  It looks like I'm kicking my leg up in a pose, but I'm really just keeping my balance.  Isaac says this adds to the 50s-postcard-feeling we've got going on here - happy girl in skirt packing licorice-laden picnic into outrageously-fabulous orange truck. Sounds good to me.

Mehc_cvr_2 This is the parting shot from an 8-page feature in the current Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine.  The April/May 2008 issue just hit news stands this week.  To help answer questions about the article & to help keep up with all of the new visitors popping in (Hello friends!), I've put together some information about the projects & patterns featured in the article.  Here's a link to that info page. And congrats to my talented husband for a beautiful cover!

Home Companion is an amazing magazine.  If you've never picked up a copy before, do it!  You'll think, "Dang-shoot, I've been missing out!"  Then you just might have to track down all of the previous issues & catch up.

Creatingkeepsakesmarch08 There's also a little spot about my blog in the March issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.  A few of the editors from the magazine approached me at The Cheesecake Factory while I was in Anaheim a couple of weeks ago.  They handed me an issue of the magazine and said," Well, I guess this was fortuitous timing!  Congrats on your new scrapbook collection."  Odd to be spotted in public, but kinda fun too. And the paper-craft crowd seems just as fabulous as the fabric crowd;  cool ladies having all-together too much fun (well, mostly ladies).  Oh to get invited on a trip to Italy;  it seems paper-crafters know how to go all-out!

I simply LOVE ME's Home Companion. My mom and I fell in love with her work years ago and then her magazine came along... While I've been "on the wagon" with magazine buying lately, I'm predicting a ghastly fall with that edition held tightly in my hands!

That photo couldn't be more lovely! Are you sure you don't live in a magical kingdom?

I'm an avid reader of both Home Companion and your blog. I received my Home Companion and was so excited to see you on the cover. I actually exclaimed to my husband, "Hey, I know her!!".
Congrats! Loved the article. Loved the issue.

Wow Heather! Congratulations on your many fabulous projects... very exciting! As a fellow photographer, I want to give some props to your husband for an absolutely delicious photo. I love the orange truck! :)

Hi Heather!
I loved your spread in MEHC. That orange truck is to-die-for, you and the girls are adorable and that spread you set-up was absolutely gorgeous! It's so great to see how other girls live their creative lives.

Hello Heather,
I'm one of the new visitors. I saw the HC spread and was smitten! You have a wonderful talent and whimsy and I love your blog. I'll be a frequent visitor and I'm looking forward to making some paper globes this weekend!

I picked up the latest HC in my college bookstore because the cover was so beautiful! Imagine my suprise and delight when I found out the feature spread was all about your fabric! Congrats on the great exposure!

Wow, great shoot! Wonderful colors!

Congratulations on your spread. I love the magazine and was so excited when I recognized somebody in it. I say that like I know you personally. :)

Congratulations Heather,

Your blog is one of my favorites!

I love that cover shot, it's beautiful!!!
I just ran out at lunchtime to pick up a copy. Well, it doesn't take much for me, since I'm such a magazine addict. But I feel like I had a good excuse. : )

Thanks for sharing!
Jennifer

Love your cover shot. So Springy! I'm going to search around tomorrow for a copy.

I am a friend of Jona's and I just love the new ME mag! All of your ideas are so great! I really love the orange tank top/blouse that Abby is wearing in your post about the magazine article. It's adorable and looks so comfy. Where could I find that pattern?

I'm new to your blog. Just saw your article in ME's mag. I love your designs. The little book bags are too cute.

Thanks everybody!

KellyinVA, I designed the little shirt you're referring to, so there isn't a pattern I can direct you. I would consider publishing one though... What do you guys think about patterns for kids' clothes?

The shot is awesome!
Nicely done Heather.

I've been loving your blog since you started, and was so happy to see the ME spread. Delightful! I look forward to your new fabric, but please can you keep freshcut going as well. I can't get enough of that fabric! Congrats on everything!

Odd coincidence lol. I have popped in on your blog for quite some time after I found via another crafting blog. Always been a fan! You're very inspiring and not mention gifted. Well my husband who dabbles in photography and video production. He owns a small production company that manly films and edits in HD but also some photography. He is always checking out other photographer's and video production websites and he happened to come across your husbands website. I just thought it was sort of a funny coincidence. He thought your husbands work is definitely gifted and awesome (must run in the family ;). It's always been my husbands dream to solely work in film and photography. He actually ended up getting a PhD in physics and works as a "rocket scientist" lol here in Utah. I have to giggle every time I tell people what he is does because it just doesn't seem like "him". He comes across much more like a 'goofy young snowboard' lol a pretty big contradiction. Anyway, as I have rambled on our life story as I tend to do at times before getting to the point. Sorry! Back to the original point and question (yes there really was a point lol). After checking out your husbands work and site I thought he mentioned going to BYU? Did you both go to BYU? My husband did his bachelor degree there while we were dating. Just more curiosity than anything really. Sorry if I am invading into your personal life as I am sure you aren't a stranger to personal invasion since your recent success. I apologize and don't want to add to it. I just really was curious and thought it was pretty cool if you guys went to the "Y" too. I am the first to admit it really is a great school but it certainly provides a pretty "unique" lol experience as far as college goes. :)

You and your husband are quite the talented couple! I LOVE that picture of you!

Beautiful shot that really says "Spring is here!!" :o) I'll have to get this ME issue for sure.
And a YES from me on kid's clothes patterns!

Aaahh, If it is Phoenix.... It looks to me like the Farm at South Mountain! Especially the path where you are with that awesome vintage truck! It reminds me of the driveway that is now by the little artist cottage (used to be their antique store). LOVE that farm!
AND love the images! I can't wait to pick up the magazine in person!
Congratulations Heather!

Hi, Heather! You are right! MEHC is awesome. I am an ME fan from way back. Congrats. The pictures are styled with your usual, fabulous flair!

Great photo! I just picked up the ME magazine last week but haven't read it yet. Now I will. Congrats!

I love ME's magazine and I am so glad to see you and Little Miss Charlotte in this issue. All of your designs are delightful and inspiring!

I loved the spread you had in Home Companion and I'm glad I found you had a blog! Congrats on all the successful ventures, including being recongnized in public! ;)

Heather: I picked up the magazine last week and had been meaning to come by and comment. The spread was ABSOLUTELY stunning. I was so excited to see your creative workspace. Can I have all of that fabric and the cabinet..oh and the island, too? :-)

You look maw-vo-lous! What a great spread! And what great photos! Still loving your style...Deb in OKC
