I love how music can transport you. And scents can do that too. If you had asked me yesterday, I couldn't have told you what 'our song' was. It was the first song we danced to, but I wouldn't have recalled the name.
I got a little choked up, I admit it.
Isn't life a blur? A fast, fabulous, when-will-I-ever-get-enough-sleep-again blur? Nothing slows down the clock but boredom; ask any fourth-grader at the end of a long summer. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed the misery of boredom.
Regardless of the whirlwind, I'd rather be 70 in a fleeting week, than perpetually bored. Life is a beautiful-busy.

I like this post and I love it when songs transport me to a different, simpler time. 'sigh' So much fun...

I went to a Sarah McClachlan concert when my kids were babies... 5 years ago perhaps? and when she started singing a flood of emotions hit me and I started to tear up because it took me back to when I belted her from the stereo when I was childless and care-free and such a different person than the Mom that I was/am now.

So sweet. Reading this I was magically transported to my first kiss. Thanks.

My Dad came and stayed with my kids so my husband and I could take a quick trip to Paris. When we got home everyone was safe, well taken care of, fed and clean. However all the kids complained they were "BORED" the entire visit with grandpa (he's a bit of a homebody)... oh I thought "you silly kids... there are soo many things in life so much worse than being bored."

One of the things I've always loved most about music is its ability to remind me of who I was, who I am and even at times who I want to be. In just a few bars it can express so much that mere words can't. Like yours my memories are very closely tied in to music and smells. I have an extra added quirk in that I can usually remember what I was wearing at the time, especially the shoes! Thanks for a great post, now I'm going to turn my I-pod on shuffle and see what comes up!

nothing like hearing a Cure song to send me back to high school, sneaking off at lunch to go hang out at Lytle Creek.
Its kinda nice to have those blasts from the past huh?!

Today is my 40th birthday - what a sweet thought for the day kind of post to read today. And that song, well....

My husband and I started singing that song at dinner last night when my daughter asked if the roses in our flower arrangement had thorns. One of those times where the kids just look at you like "Huh??" But we were laughing!

And interesting this happened while Bret Michaels is recovering from a stroke.... loooooove Poison. Thanks for taking me back, too. And hopefully Bret recovers fully!

I have the same response to music, quite frequently. I think it's interesting what people's triggers are.

I know this isn't the point, but I feel so awful for Brett Michaels.

I am so glad I was not the only one with an inadequate sleeping bag! I just had a flashback to everyone playing in their snowsuits -- and me with scotch guarded jeans. That stuff never worked.

I love this post! It's just what I needed. I need to constantly remind myself that busy IS better than bored. Thanks!

I love how music can go so deep into our soul and bring out memories and feelings that we didn't realize that we had. Music brings me to life!

Yes, most definitely! Love how music can transport us to another time and place in our lives.

If I hear GNR "Patience" the exact same thing happens to me - even thought I claimed to hate banger music when I was that age!

Music is the BEST...I love this post, I had the same thing happen to me today as I was getting in my car at 6:30 AM to go open our family coffee shop. I thought the same thoughts of sleep..will it ever happen again??...the song that was playing took me back to those summer days of my late teenage years when sleep was "optional" because we were having so much fun....I had to chuckle because back then I didn't even know what "tired" was! Love a good song!!

I love this perspective! I love the power of music to recall to our memories the years gone by. And you are right. I'd rather be busy than bored too! I love your blog and check back often. Thanks for the creative inspiration and positive perspectives.
