Nothing like a giant-mouse maxi skirt to freshen up an otherwise dull
wardrobe. This vintage get-up says something, but what exactly?
"I am a professional."
"Beware the Rodent of Unusual Size."
Nail it & I'll send you a gift of some sort. I'm in the thick of fabric design and can use a good laugh -- clearly.
I missed the end of the auction while I was out of town or I might have caved. I imagine wearing this number to the studio with a white shirt, drippy earrings, and an I'm-dead-serious business-bun. There would be a candy bar in store for whomever on my team snickered first.
Missed opportunity : (

My fried just asked if that was a vacumn cleaner cover. LOL!

the mouse takes the skirt
the mouse takes the skirt
hi-ho the dairy-o, the mouse takes the skirt.
the skirt stands alone.
the skirt stands alone.
hi-ho the dairy-o
the skirt stands alone!

think of the poor poodle who used to be on this skirt and was eaten by the GIANT mouse!
Perhaps some teacher wore it for story time when she read Stuart LITTLE? haha

Mouse wears human costume of unusual size...
Posted by: Emily | September 23, 2010 at 12:35 AM
You could always 'mod' the mouse.
Bondage mouse with strips of strategically placed tape and a whip in the free paw would be guaranteed to taise a few eyebrows (and laughs), an ornate mask for a Venetian ball, a grubby bathrobe and cigarette for that trailer trash look, suit and gun for the evil Mafioso look. The possibilities (aside from extermination) are endless!

Who moved my cheese?!
Posted by: Jenna | September 23, 2010 at 09:07 AM
It puts out a "Step aside Ladies. There's a new mouse in the house." kinda vibe. I have a silly image in my head of you walking in the skirt in a schwanky kinda way & the mouse shakin' its hips back & forth with each step. Very schwanky.

I keep picturing a school play where the students act out "The Farmer in the Dell" and have to wonder where the rest of the skirts in the song have gone.
"The mouse takes the cheese, the mouse takes the cheese, hi-ho, the derry-oh, the mouse takes the cheese."
And whatever else he wants, judging from those eyes.
Please, do wear this to a meeting. It would be worth it for the laughter that would ensue.

Considering the attitude on that mouse I'd say the HMIC (Head Mouse In Charge) is in the house.

Don't run, I want to be your friend!
Posted by: Laura | September 23, 2010 at 06:41 PM
Three blind mice, three blind mice,
See how they run, see how they run,
They all ran after the farmer's wife,
Who cut off their tails with a carving knife,
Did you ever see such a thing in your life,
As three blind mice?
This is the one that got away
"I ain't afraid of no farmers wife"
"You wanna piece of me"
I have read all the responses and this is a very funny post!!

There's something disturbing about the visual I'm getting on the coordinating mousetrap pants that go along with this.

But did the cheese really stand alone? Of course not. Because the farmer's wife stole the cheese back from the stinking rat. She had, after all, spent a long time milking the cow, making the cheese, and waiting for the fine aged cheddar to ripen and she wasn't letting it go to waste on a dirty rat, no matter how large he was. And so in homage to her triumph, she crafted this lovely skirt with an image of the conquered rat on it, so that each time she sat down to eat a piece of the cheese she could imagine the rat was having to watch her savoring her triumph. She like to think of it as her "Big cheese" skirt. :)

I believe it's intended to be worn in conjunction with a glimmery shirt and fancy shoes to a Nutcracker themed Christmas party.
